Essay Contest Open for Entries; Winners Get Free Food for a Year
SAN DIEGO COUNTY – Is your mom or motherly role model the absolute best? Is she an inspiration to others through her helping hands to those in need or service in the community? If so, Pat & Oscar’s wants to hear about it! The company is asking San Diegans to “Celebrate the Mother in Your Life” through a countywide essay contest where winning entries will be deiced by online votes and receive a grand prize of Free Food for a Year!
Although the contest is named for the “Mother in Your Life,” nominees do not need to only be biological mothers. Pat & Oscar’s welcomes nominations of grandmothers, aunts, step-mothers, stay-at-home dads, etc. – Any important figure in a child’s life that fills the role of mom.
Entries will be accepted from April 13 – May 1 only with rules as follows:
- You can nominate the “Mother in Your Life” in 200 words or less -- tell the company why she should be Pat & Oscar’s Mother of the Year
- Entries can be submitted at www.PatAndOscarsMom.com (alternate submission address via mail listed below)
- Contest includes three age categories for entrants (essay authors): 10 and Under; 11 – 18 Years; and 19 Years +. Children under 13 must have parental consent to enter.
- One winner will be selected from each category, decided by online votes
- All entries must be in by Midnight on May 1, 2009
- Entries will be posted online May 2 – May 10, 2009 for public voting – Voting closes at Midnight on May 10, 2009
- Winning entries will be announced by Wednesday May 13, 2009

- Prize is free Pat & Oscar’s for the winner’s family for a year, given in the form of a Free Meal for Four certificate, at one per week for 52 weeks
“This year, more than ever, we wanted to create an opportunity to honor the moms in San Diego and give back a little reprieve of both time and a budget break for families stressed to the max,” said Pat & Oscar’s Director of Marketing, Nicole Abraham. “We can’t wait to read all the entries and learn about these fantastic nominees,” she added.

If you wish to enter by U.S. Mail, please mail your nomination essay to: “Mother in Your Life” contest, Pat & Oscar’s Headquarters, 1959 Palomar Oaks Way, Suite 300, Carlsbad, CA 92011. All entries must be postmarked by May 1, 2009.
